AI Governance
Policies, controls, and accountability for AI inside an organization.
Definition
AI governance is the set of policies, processes, and controls that determine how AI is built, deployed, and monitored inside an organization. It covers model risk, data privacy, third-party usage, and regulatory compliance (e.g., the EU AI Act).
Context
AI governance maturity is the single best predictor of how fast a regulated enterprise can move on AI. Organizations with clear AI policies — what's allowed, what requires review, what's prohibited — ship more, not less. Governance is the enabler, not the blocker, when designed well.
