AI Strategy
The plan for where AI creates value across a business and how it gets there.
Definition
An AI strategy is the explicit prioritization of where AI investments create the most value for a business, what operating-model changes are required to capture that value, and the sequence of moves over the next 12–36 months. A strong AI strategy is tied to specific P&L outcomes, not technology adoption metrics.
Context
By 2026, the consultancy-led 'AI roadmap' has matured into operator-led AI strategy work — pairing capability planning with operating-model redesign, governance, and talent. The shift reflects the lesson of the first wave: technology alone doesn't capture value; the operating model around the technology does.
